It was 2008 and I was starting my own business. Not on my own accord mind you. The engineering firm I was Marketing Director for had a downturn due to the economy.
Anyways, after a little over a month of owning this new “marketing firm” (AKA me), I was able to land my first project. I was so excited. The job was so big, I was actually able to purchase a new computer to do the project on, and I had no idea how I was going to get all the work done.
After the second month, I had the project done and received payment… all worry gone, right? And then I realized I didn’t have another project waiting.
So I went out and did more marketing, and I got another project. Then I was too busy to market again, and it was a while between projects. As someone who always had steady income, it was a cycle that was driving me and my wife crazy!

So I joined forces with a business partner — thinking we would work together and the problem would go away. But the problem just got bigger — because now we had to take on bigger projects to make twice the revenue!
In September of 2010, I went back out on my own, and in November of that same year, the light bulb went off inside my brain for the first time.
I mean, I knew I didn’t have the time to do the marketing for myself that I was doing for other clients. And I sure as all get out knew I didn’t have the money. And in a fit of desperation, I tripped over one of the BEST finds ever, and my entire business changed INSTANTLY. As a matter of fact, it’s why I am still using this tool today — 6 years later!
The tool is called Fiverr.com. If you aren’t familiar with Fiverr, you need to be — and fast! Fiverr gets its name because the site is built on the premise of “what are you willing to do for $5?” People all around the world offer to provide products and/or services for as little as $5.
Did you hear what I said??? As little as $5.
As you can imagine, there are some crazy things you can buy for $5, but when it comes to MARKETING + QUICK + COST EFFECTIVE, there is no better solution out there — especially if you are doing nothing today.
